Good point by the Brooklyn owner. I believe that's where the "sandwich picks" come into play. Also, the way you see what you'd be giving up by signing a free agent is you have to go to there Contract & Status page, and below and to the right it gives you their status as a free agent whether it be an "A" which means you lose a first round pick, or a "B" which I believe is a second rounder. At least that's my take on it. After playing this game for six years, I just discovered that. Probably because none of the other leagues I'm in ever used it.

I like compensation. We're still early in this league, but there's already some division between big money and small money teams. Without compensation, there's very little to keep the gap from spreading. You could quickly have a bottom-feeder team that gets dropped, and then it's a harder sell to refill.
With early first round picks safe, it's the best/richest teams that risk the most when they sign free agents. Compensation also forces us to make some tough choices, and use more strategy. One solution is to sign multiple free agents in the same year, if you have the money for it. Not sure, but I think you only lose one pick a year.
Sandwich picks sound fine as an alternative, but I wouldn't mind keeping it the way it is.

I'd like to see trading of draft picks allowed.
