Pregame:
The Giants have been to the big game once before in 1905, but lost the series to the Washington Senators. The Naps have been here twice before and are 1-1 in the big series. History is on the side of the Naps.
The Naps are led by Ace Ray Collins (30-10 1.88), but they will rely on him to win. If the Giants can pull of Game 1, the Naps could be in trouble. They get weaker with Bedient and Bill Essick after Collins.
The offense is led by Max Carey on top of the lineup and Beals Becker and Art Wilson who are expected to drive in runs. George Stone is a strong 6 hitter. They lack superstars all over this team, but there is not an easy out.
The Giants are going to send Christy Mathewson to the mound, who lost a big game in the NLCS. They need him to rebound and win 2 or 3 games in this series. Irish McIlveen proved in Game 7 of the NLCS that he can win a big game. He might be the difference maker in the series.
The offense is built around Steve Evans. He is a superstar in the PBA and can carry a team even if nobody else is hitting. Bubbles Hargrave may be the way to victory for the Giants. If he can get on for Kauff and Evans (and even Veach), a single can become an RBI.
Prediction:
I think the Giants are the better team. Their superstars will produce. They beat a better team (Cardinals) than the Naps (Highlanders). I think the Giants will win in 5.

I have to vote for the Giants. They already beat the best team in the league, plus the NL has to represent!

Game 1:
The big game for the 1912 World Series began with a great pitching duel and ended with the Giants winning 6-4. The big story was Ray Collins vs Christy Mathewson. Collins ended up giving up 6 runs and the Giants just hit him all day. Mathewson spread things out more evenly and Ed Summers entered the game to finish things off.
Bubbles Hargrave was injured in the game and we still don't know if he can return in Game Two. 31,546 fans showed up in NY to cheer their team on. LF Bobby Veach was named player of the game for going 1 for 3 with 4 RBI.
Harry Wolter went 0-5 in the leadoff spot, but the Giants over came his lack of production.
The game shifts to game two and the Naps need a victory.

Game 2:
Cleveland came storming back and won the game 5-2. The comeback Kids showed once again that they are never out of it.
Naps SP Hugh Bedient showed Ray Collins what a good game was and kept the Giants in check all game. Irish McIlveen spread 11 hits over 5 runs. 31,288 fans showed up to root the Giants in, but the hometown team just didn't have enough to win this one.

As long as there are no injuries, Naps are fine continuing forward.

Game 3:
The series shifts to Cleveland and the Naps are hoping the 10th man (the fans) can keep them alive and winning. Cleveland scored early and knocked the Giants faith winning the game 6-2.
Clarance Mitchell just did not bring his A game and things looked bad early on for the Giants. Essick was throwing BB's all game and the Giants had no answers. 21,362 fans showed up which is huge in the Ohio town. The Naps offense is clicking and the leadoff position is killing the Giants. If the Naps close out Game 4, this series is over.

Game 4:
With a 2-1 advantage, the Naps decided to pitch Eddie Ross instead of Ray Collins, while the Giants sent Mathewson to the mound. And boy, he didn't disappoint! Mathewson spread 12 hits over the 9 innings in a game that last 2 hours and 49 minutes. 21,284 fans came out to see the curveball that can knock down buildings! Ross, on the other hand, was terrible and made the Giants hitters look like the Cardinals.
Wolter drove in 4 runs from the lead off spot, but his average for the series is .190 and things could not look bleaker.
Kauff and Evans is carrying the offense with Bubbles, but Veach had a huge game.
With Collins pitching in Game 5, the Giants are tied, but they lost their advantage.

Game 5:
This game was over before it started. The final score was 11-2, but the Giants never had a prayer when Ray Collins stepped on the mound.
The Giants continue to get nothing out the leadoff spot (Harry Wolter .160) and the 2 spot is not much better. The middle of the order is good, but when no one is on base it does not matter.
Collins went the complete game giving up 10 hits and only 2 runs. Irish McIlveen looked rough getting pulled in the 6th after 9 hit and 8 runs (5 er). It was uglier than the numbers speak.
The Naps are up with the series shifting to NY. It could be over fast for the Giants.

The Naps are sending Harvey Bedient to the mound (1-1 6.00) who has been anything but outstanding. The Giants are going to send Christy Mathewson to the mound in a must win on short rest (3-1 1.50). I understand their reasoning, if you are going to lose you don't lose with him ready and on the bench. No matter if that means he cannot pitch in Game 7 or not. Game 7 may never come.
The Naps were able to pull out the win in a very close game (2-1) to be named World Series Champions! This is the second championship for the franchise!
Bedient pitched like a whiz giving up 1 run over 9 IP on 12 his. Mathewson also pitched a great game, but it was one run too many. He set a playoff record with 12 strikeouts!
The leadoff spot did the Giants in, while Max Carey continued to get on base for the Naps. The Naps ended up winning more games and that is all that counts!
