1. Senators -- LF ZACK WHEAT -- This pick will come down to Zack Wheat (the best hitter) or Russ Ford (the best pitcher). Hitting is harder to find in the PBA, so I can see the Senators shifting the plan and getting a good hitter than can be around for the next 20 years.
2. Cardinals -- C TED EASTERLY -- The Cardinals have a history under current ownership of only caring about hitting. Russ Ford should be who they take, but my prediction is catcher Ted Easterly. They won't be able to pass up such a great hitting catcher and who can blame them?
3. Giants --SS STUFFY MCINNIS -- The Giants are in bad need of a good SS and Stuffy could be their man. Stuffy makes contact and that is about it. In my head, he might be a little over rated. This could be the first bust of the draft.
4. White Sox -- 1b ART GRIGGS -- Griggs is going to be a master at first base and is a perfect fit for this era. He makes perfect contact and can drive the ball for doubles. This current era is very weak at 1b and look for Griggs to become one of the best at the position.
5. Phillies -- SP RUSS FORD -- Ford is able to step right in for the Phillies and anchor that staff. He has incredible stuff. He should be able to slip here even though he is more talented than many that will be drafted before him.
6. Browns -- SP LOUIS DRUCKE -- The Browns are in dire need of pitching. They are worst in the AL and with an ace they might be able to take over that division. If they go for hitting, they will regret that move.
7. Naps -- SP RAY COLLINS -- This is likely to be the last of the run on arms for a while. The Naps are only bested in their horrible staff by the Browns. Collins is perhaps the best all around arm in the draft.
8. Cubs -- LF HARRY HOOPER -- Cubs were for the longest time a team that stocked up on arms, but after being sold back to the league they have grown stale. They need some fresh hitters to replace those aging veterans. Hooper is just that guy. He can hit for a high average and draws plenty of walks.
9. Reds -- C TOMMY CLARKE -- Anyone could always use a good catcher. If the Reds take Clarke, look for them to ship out Clarke or another catcher. This could be a deal used as trade bait.
10. Senators -- SP HARRY GASPAR -- With their second pick, the Senators would be smart to take an arm and Gaspar would be the best of the rest. He has great control and movement and enough fire on the fastball to get major league hitters out.
11. Doves -- RF HY MYERS -- Look for the Doves to go offense all the way to try and fight off the Giants. Myers can make great contact and his power will grow as he gets older. At 19 years of age, Myers would be a good risk in the middle of the first round.
12. Red Sox --1B FRED LUDERUS -- The Red Sox are good enough to take a reach on Luderus in the hope he will pay off big down the road. He could be a huge player or a huge bust; he's worth the risk with the 12th pick.
13. Tigers -- LF JACK LELIVELT -- Jack isn't the type of player you build a team around, but he is the type who can play solid baseball for the next 8-12 years. He won't make an All Star Team, but he will make the lineup and plays hard.
14. Giants --CF REBEL OAKES -- The Giants could use a good backup in CF in case Dode gets hurt (again!). He makes solid contact and doesn't strike out. He has good range in the outfield, just don't expect too much and you could have a solid player.
15. Pirates -- CF RAY DEMMITT -- Ray has a little room to grow in order to be a solid major leaguer and at the age of 24 he doesn't have much time. The Pirates are the type of team that loves a guy like this.
16. Highlanders-- 3B TILLIE SHAFER -- Shafer won't ever be one of the best 3b in the league, but he can steal a base. He has trouble on defense at 19 is a prospect at best. He won't see any time this year.
