The NY Giants have agreed in principle to trade two prospects to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for SP Dale Gear.
Dale Gear, we feel, is a pitcher who should be on top of a rotation, but will exceed greatly in the 3rd or 4th spot. After a long servitude for the Washington Senators and a single season with the Reds, Gear will slide into the rotation for the Giants and bring his sub 3.00 ERA with him. It is amazing a guy like Gear is available on the market with his terrific history of pitching great.
In exchange, we agreed to give up 3b prospect Bobby Byrne and SP Rube Kroh. Byrne should be able to hit .290-.300 in the majors one day and Kroh will help the Reds rotation in a pinch, but at the age of 20 has plenty of room to grow.

The Reds Agree to this deal. Dealing Gear is a tough move because he is a very talented pitcher with a strong history, but we need to cut some salary this off season and we hope that our younger guys can step in. Our plan is to compete for the division title this year and show up yet again in the World Series.
